Best chill out places in Singapore
Reuters Plus/ Wai Ling Au
According to the World Atlas, in 2018, Singapore was the third most densely populated city in the world. Having to share a square mile with 18,512 people means it can get rather difficult to get your dose of “me time”.
But after some digging by this intrepid reporter, I can safely say leave your expectations at the door and let’s chill out!
1. Arab Street

Experience Singapore’s rich Muslim culture as you marvel at Sultan Mosque or use the picturesque alley of shop houses as the backdrop to your latest Instagram story. Just a little further down the street is Haji Lane, where you will find stores selling vintage items, barbershops and hipster cafes. When dusk falls, head into a cafe for alfresco dining, drinks and LIVE music.
2. Singapore Sports Hub

For all you #fitspo people out there looking for a place to chill and cool down after a good workout, look no further. The Singapore Sports Hub boasts 35-hectares of world-class facilities. Not only is it a sports stadium, it also has a shopping mall, an aquatic centre, and with its excellent location by the Kallang River; you are in for a treat every sunrise and sunset.
Aside from the view, the Singapore Sports Hub also hosts a variety of events, from concerts to sporting events like the upcoming HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens in April! Click here for tickets and more details.
3. Marina Barrage

Take a break at Marina Barrage to enjoy the Singapore skyline. With picnic basket in tow and loved one in your arms, you are set for a beautiful day out under the sun (or the moon, whichever you prefer). If too much sun isn’t your thing, walk a little further down to Gardens by the Bay or Marina Bay Sands to cool off!
4. Punggol East Container Park
Looking to chill out away from the hustle and bustle of the city? Look no further. Nestled away in Punggol is a hipster foodie enclave that is made up of containers similar to Common Ground in South Korea.
Stimulate your taste buds as you take a break from the craziness at this far flung paradise with your friends and family.
