Your personal fashion guide to the
HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens

Reuter Plus/ Wai Ling Au

Tickets have been purchased, travel routes have been planned, tentative off day taken on Monday to nurse that rugby “hangover”, but wait, something is missing! Whatshould I wear to the HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens? Don’t despair, we’ve got you covered! With these great ideas, you are sure to turn heads during match days!

1. Wear your team’s colours

When choosing your outfit, the first thing you should do is to identify which rugby team you and your friends are supporting. If you can’t shell out for a replica jersey, just come in the right colours! You don’t want to be stuck in Springboks green and gold if all your mates are All Blacks fans.

2. Comfort

It is important to dress for comfort since most of the time you will be up on your feet cheering for the teams. With that being said, you are encouraged to wear your most comfortable shoes, be it sneakers or your flip flops, as long as it is comfortable and you can stand or walk in them for extended periods of time. For the ladies, the perfect jeans, skinny or mom, are always a great look to go for. If you are more of a shorts or bermudas kinda girl, then that is what you should your rugby tee with! As for the gents, a pair of jeans, chinos or even shorts are perfect.

You can accessorise your outfit with a hat or a pair of shades to bring your look together, and also shield yourself from the scorching sun.

3. Be yourself

Rugby is all about simplicity, and everyone is there to have fun and enjoy the match. Do not overthink it and just be yourself. If you want to come in a onesie and a giant hat together with your friends to take the ultimate group selfie at the match it’s fine as well! One thing to note about the giant hat, it is best to remove it during the match so that the spectators behind you can still have a clear view of what is going down below.

Last but not least, while comfort is key, confidence is one as well; and with confidence any outfit is going to look perfect!
